The US (Chase) wants to take over German banking. Why?
Because Germany's banking system is dominated by the public Sparkassen-Landesbanken. These banks are most concerned with their own localities and have mandates for social responsibilities, but are least concerned with maximizing returns to shareholders or executive bonuses. By law, they cannot be privately owned.
