🧗 Did you know that Mount Everest is still growing? The Himalayan range, which includes Mount Everest, was formed by the collision of the Indian and Eurasian tectonic plates. This process is still ongoing, causing Everest to grow taller by about 4 millimeters (0.2 inches) every year! While it's the highest mountain above sea level, it's not the tallest from base to peak (that title belongs to Mauna Kea in Hawaii, much of which is underwater), nor is it the farthest point from the Earth's center (that's Mount Chimborazo in Ecuador). However, the fact that it's constantly rising makes it a truly dynamic giant!
