a little over 1 year ago i had no software engineering internship for my junior summer i joined a crypto discord that a mutual (Bitcoin maxi since 2012) had started. we had a call and he told me that “in a gold rush, you’d rather be the one providing the shovels than the ones digging.” this really stuck with me and i dug into smart contract bug hunting and security at full throttle. i fell in love with smart contract dev. while i had always loved crypto, i wanted to be more than just a market participant. i liked the idea that i was a part of building something impactful i began building wallet trackers and other tools for the discord, which one of the managers noticed. he brought me on as a software engineer for his ad tech startup in January of this year due to now having some projects and a bit experience, i began getting web2 software engineering and data science interviews and offers. but i turned them down, despite the job market being “cooked” and friends thinking i was crazy. when i got the opportunity to go to the Eigen Games hackathon at Eth Denver, i saw this as the perfect place to prove my value as a SWE in crypto. my friend and I grinded, working hours and hours to finish our project, which took first place on the Uniswap track. this led to a handful of interviews, and ultimately turning down a full time data science role at a well-known bank to intern at Gemini. just getting started, but crazy to look back at the journey i’ve had this past year. excited to see where the rest of this year takes me!

MBC is looking for a law firm that is interested in supporting us as we bridge the gap between students and the crypto industry. In 2024, we hosted our inaugural conference at Umich which hosted over 400 students from 35 Universities across North America. We've also helped over 40 students land internships for summer 2025. In 2025, we are expanding to offer more opportunities, a defined curriculum for student orgs, and a much larger conference. Instead of using the funding we’ve allocated for students to pay a law firm, we’re looking for a firm willing to support MBC on a pro bono basis. We are filing as a 501c3, looking to help international students with visa's, and want to ensure our High School Fellowship program is executed in full legal compliance. The work is relatively straightforward, but the guidance of a law firm would ensure we do everything by the book and set a strong foundation for long-term impact. If this is something your firm might be open to supporting, we’d love to chat.
