I read this book by Alec Leach a few months ago and (re)found out while cleaning out my bookshelf. Check it out, I highly recommend it to anybody who’s into fashion and consumer culture/behavior. The book explores fashion brands and the fashion machine work vis-a-vis with/against sustainability.
The one part of this discussion that is incredibly hard to solve is our biological need for community/identity. As long as we need this part of our lives fulfilled, the potential for the consumption of fashion will continue to exist.
I look at some of us “older heads” who wear the same stuff on the daily, but used to be heavily into fashion. Once you reach a certain point in your life, whether through age/family/clarity, the creation of identity through fashion becomes less and less a thing.
How similar/different is Farcaster vs. Lens? The general premise is similar right? When it comes to growth/popularity, is it “mostly” a demographics and Eth vs. Polygon reason?
