BounceBit is a Layer-1 blockchain built to make Bitcoin (BTC) more functional within DeFi by enabling BTC restaking, yield-generating strategies, and a hybrid CeFi-DeFi model (also called “CeDeFi”). Users deposit BTC, receive a corresponding wrapped token (often BBTC), and then can stake or restake to earn rewards turning idle BTC into an active, yield-earning asset. The platform uses a dual-token system: one is BBTC (pegged to BTC) for staking/liquidity, and the other is BB, BounceBit’s native token, used for governance, staking, and paying fees.
Thanks to its EVM compatibility, BounceBit supports smart contracts, liquidity pools, and decentralized applications effectively bridging Bitcoin with the broader DeFi ecosystem. Beyond staking, the project also aims to support Real-World Assets (RWAs), structured yield products, and more advanced financial strategies, giving Bitcoin holders and institutions a flexible way to participate in crypto finance while maintaining secure custody.
