Content coins will work if you get people to post them with sufficient quantity and frequency.

Until then, there will be a lot of push back. But the only way through is posting more.

Swap "being cool" with "established coin norms" and "being cringe" with "creating more coins".

I said something similar when @zora  launched their new model — it doesn’t make sense unless it’s integrated into a much larger social graph/network. It’s obvious that’s coming (and soon duh). But until then they will be treated as memecoins and the ride will be bumpy.

for many types of content, it makes sense to auto have a coin or mass abundance, 100 pennies still = $1

however, bucketing artists in “coining everything” feels off - i am no expert, but art has been around for millennia and it’s often valued based on scarcity, emotion, feel

i don’t believe abundance and scarcity are mutually exclusive in this new world, both should exist onchain for various purposes

global liquidity benefits 1/1s, open editions, and coins

ALL of these are ownership breakthroughs, not just coins

1/1 ~= art in an exhibition/museum

open edition ~= postcards/stamps (ht @wanderloots.eth)

coin ~= fractionalized representation of content

my whole point is to say there isn’t one “right” way - and i don’t think we as a collective whole should push for a certain way over another, the goal is choice/freedom

a tiktok video? prob great as a coin!
art/photography? i personally lean towards editions or 1/1

the key is choice where the main onchain distribution lives

Yup agree — content does not = art and true art should be elevated imo. I want to collect art & own it — not trade it. But to each his own.

💯 i think a positioning pivot solves it

if i want to buy a 1 sentence tweet/cast for 2 cents as a coin and speculate on it’s value, that should be a reality, free market

but, trying to put artists in the “coin” cohort just doesn’t add up, i’ve yet to find one photographer im close with on here who is for that

ultimately, choice hopefully will win out

what worries me a little is the distribution source, it makes me want fc to win even more bc it’s protocol agnostic
