Reports suggest Venezuela may hold a large unofficial Bitcoin reserve Market sources are circulating claims that Venezuela may have accumulated an unofficial cryptocurrency reserve of up to 600,000 BTC. The reserve is believed to have been built gradually over several years. According to estimates, the process began in 2018 when the government sold approximately 73 tons of gold and allegedly converted part of the proceeds into Bitcoin to bypass U.S. sanctions.
