I’ve always been confused about the utility of displaying asset balances on platforms such as these where user profiles are encouraged to beconnected to users’ discernible identities (i.e. traditional social media). I can be sold on showing assets held, as a means of showing creator endorsement or trend signal, but also displaying balances seems a bit counterproductive to me. My hunch is that more utility could be derived from showing acquisition price rather than acquisition value. As overtime, this could serve to build a portfolio of a users’ ability or pension for spotting emergent creators, trends, or assets early.
