Could not agree more, good wallet hygiene from an early stage goes a long way as firms seek clean audit opinions.
It boils down to:
1. Regularly reconciling wallet balances to on-chain data
2. Tagging & tracking transactions appropriately (buy, sell, earned rewards, etc.), and
3. Accurately tracking cost basis
