My partner’s from here! So I’ve been every year since we started dating to visit his family. I had never even heard of Tunisia til I met him. 98% of the meals are home cooked by his mom, so def a very local experience :)

You know what’s interesting? I have to drink water with meals, like I get SO thirsty, I don’t know how people don’t. My ex’s family used to say drinking during meals was bad for digestion or causes bloating… but I didn’t care. Maybe that’s why I’m always gassy lol.

Yes omg. I used to think I was overthinking it, until I started getting secondhand comments and DMs from people who knew me — saying stuff like my “social media voice” sounded inauthentic or my captions felt too excited. Like… ok?? I was just being myself 😭 Idk, it definitely made me self-conscious lol

Tunisian breakfast 🫶🏻 Fresh fruit, dates, and my favorite — bsissa: a cereal mix of ground legumes, spices, and nuts. Topped with olive oil to keep it moist. High fiber, nutritious, and so good with tea! I always bring some back to the US — it keeps well and makes for a healthy breakfast.

Ok I think it may have actually been squid egg/roe not liver? Here’s my partner’s mom cleaning a squid she got from the local fisherman’s market and they had said the white sacs are eggs Regardless.. very yummy

Yeah they’re usually slightly sweet, but sometimes I’m not sure if it’s the sauce or the actual liver This one was just lightly seasoned!! From an island in Tunisia at a place called Casa Mia. Tried squid liver for the first time and LOVED it - rich, briney, creamy, & a hint of sweetness but not as strong as other seafood livers like monkfish or cod. Soooo soft and squishy. 10/10

noticed something after uploading 2 videos on farcaster - here’s a side-by-side of my original vs what shows up here: https://share.icloud.com/photos/08bcinBv4YBDCFhxnfaNoQ7oA quality drop is minor, but playback feels a little choppy or not quite smooth? anyone else seeing this? curious if it’s compression or rendering 🤔 my camera setting is 4k 60fps and I’m wondering if that’s too high Cuz on YouTube shorts I had a similar issue and it was just exporting at a different fps that solved it

why does produce taste 10x better everywhere outside the US? I can make the same dish — salad, fruit, whatever — but in Tunisia, Mexico, Malaysia… the flavor is just different. fresher, juicier, more alive. just tried a green fig for the first time too and it was so soft + sweet 🥹
