ARC Raiders moves to permanent bans after a streamer’s ultimatum
Embark Studios began issuing
permanent bans to cheaters in ARC Raiders on January 16, after VTuber TheBurntPeanut threatened to quit the game live on stream. One of the offenders was banned within 30 minutes of his outburst.
The Swedish developer had previously only given 30-day suspensions for cheating, which drew criticism from well-known streamers including Shroud, Ninja, and Nadeshot, who complained about widespread stream-sniping and cheat use.
The permanent bans currently seem to target stream-snipers rather than all cheaters in general, although Embark states that it is implementing new detection mechanisms and updating its anti-cheat system.
