MARKET CLOSES FIRST DAY OF TRADING IN 2026
š¹ Wall Street closed the first trading day of 2026 with mixed results. The Dow Jones and S&P 500 indices rose slightly, while the Nasdaq (primarily technology stocks) remained flat.
š¹ Bitcoin rose and fluctuated around $90,000. Gold prices were flat, while silver recovered slightly to $72.17, and oil futures continued to stay below $60.
š¹ Berkshire Hathaway shares fell 1.41% as the company entered a new era of leadership under the succession of Greg Abel. Berkshire holds a record $381.6 billion in cash as of the end of September, and Wall Street is awaiting Abel's first move with this money. Warren Buffett, 95, remains Chairman of the Board.
š¹ Tesla announced 418,227 vehicles delivered in the fourth quarter, down 16%. In 2025, Tesla plans to produce 1.65 million vehicles and deliver 1.64 million. Tesla shares fell 2.59% today. Part of the reason is that the $7,500 tax incentive for electric vehicles in the US ended on September 30th.
