It does. Social networks are movements, not products. It’s how we cohere and grow together. To date, Farcaster has been driven by greed; that won’t sustain or if it does, the resultant culture will be shallow and cruel.

I think, when I dig really deeply, what keeps me here is the fact that all of the other options are either actively undermining society (X, Meta's platforms, TikTok, etc) or just too toxic for me to want to be there: either far right wing (X, among many others) or far left wing (Bluesky) toxicity

I've become so worn down by the current state of society that just not being in a toxic cesspool feels like a huge relief

As of yesterday, negative or neutral. They’re iterating on their product to incentivize growth. That’s the wrong lodestone, imo. Notice how they’re quietly walking back decentralization, pending growth or demand or whatever, and make no comment about freedom of speech or anything that actually matters. No commitments, no expectation. Weak.
