I think it's a bit unfair to state it doesn't benefit anyone this early in the game tbh. On the "whales overstaked / they could've used money for more profitable investments" side; that's the point of staking though. They're not selling; they're opting to instead support the ecosystem by locking up. The entire point of that side of things is that there ARE likely more profitable avenues to sell your degen for short-term, but you're making a decision to instead lock up your degen for the long-term benefits.
