š Books: John Christophe āļø Writer: Romain Rolland (1868-1944) was born in 1866 and entered the Ecole Normale Superieure in Paris at the age of twenty. After graduating from this prestigious top institution, he further studied, completed his doctoral thesis, and worked as a secondary school teacher, finally entering the Ecole Normale Superieure and the University of Paris to teach art history. Although this academic road is quite long and not easy to walk down, he began literary creation very early and at the same time. He won the 1915 Nobel Prize for Literature for his book John Christophe.
