Silence after a long day... a tired girl sits down on the couch and just wants to relax. There's a glass of red, thick, promising a moment of peace on the table. She pours, hesitates for a second, then takes a sip and the warmth spreads through her body, giving a slight relaxation, already loved in the evenings and such a familiar feeling. But there is more than one life inside her, and what has just become a reason for her peace of mind becomes a danger to another organism.
Alcohol easily passes through the placenta along with the blood, and after a few minutes, the concentration of ethanol in the baby's blood becomes almost the same as that of the mother. But unfortunately, he does not have the enzymes to neutralize this poison, because his liver is not able to break down alcohol, it does not even know how to work properly yet. Each alcohol molecule is trapped, absorbed into the tissues, changing what is still so fragile and just forming.
