Why do you forget languages and lose skills. Sometimes it seems to me that the brain is the most honest student in the world. He doesn't listen to what we tell him, and he doesn't believe the promises of a new life starting on Monday. He's just watching what we're repeating. And he concludes that since he does this every day, it means it's important. The brain lives by the law of economy and does not store excess. Those connections that you don't use, he cuts off over time. In neuroscience, this adaptation mechanism is called synaptic pruning. In this way, our brain frees up resources by focusing on what you really need in life. That's why we forget a foreign language if we don't speak it, and we lose our athletic skills and instrument sense if we stop playing. We even lose confidence if we don't give ourselves the opportunity to act. Every thought, movement, and habit leaves a mark on neural networks. When you do the same thing over and over again, this trace deepens.
