Assyria is the name of an ancient state that was located in northern Mesopotamia. This state was formed about four thousand years ago and lasted for one thousand three hundred and fifty years. This empire ruled over the lands of Phoenicia, Palestine, Egypt, Babylon, Elam and the western Iranian plateau to the Persian Gulf.
