If the President suspends a Governor and the Governor insists he can’t be suspended, what happens next?
The president suspended the governor of Port-Harcourt, Nigeria.
The 1999 Constitution does not grant this power. If a president attempts this, and the governor refuses to step down;
•It’s unconstitutional and can be challenged in court.
•The Governor can sue, and the judiciary would likely rule in his favor.
•Only the State House of Assembly can impeach a Governor, not the President.
•A legal and political crisis may follow, leading to public outcry.
•The Supreme Court may intervene to uphold the Constitution.
