soooo... collectibles is better than contentcoins but neither moves the needle and contentcoins especially carry real risk both are ultimately attempts to solve the "interesting content" problem, where farcaster/zora are unable to compete directly with legacy social because the good vibes don't override the lack of distribution for premium creators it's so antithetical to the product-mindedness of the core fc team, but i really think the only answer to the content problem is paying for premium in-house content flagship content from professional producers and content creators that is exclusive to farcaster you need flagship content -- must-see TV -- to draw in viewers who then stick around to see what else is available on the platform i've written about this here before...you see the exact same pattern in every media form linear tv, satellite radio, streaming platforms obviously, theme parks for godsakes. you pay for the big attraction and the attention trickles down. are these models perfect case studies for farcaster? no, of course not. do i have the exact formula figured out? also no but user rewards, developer rewards, etc. are many factors too small to generate the kind of big boom the network needs the best path i can see is for merkle to pay for large, exclusive, high quality production (non-crypto tech-focused video content probably) and yes, of course this strategy carries risk too

Collectibles launch tomorrow 1. Update to the latest app in the App Store 2. Restart your app 1-2x 3. Tomorrow you’ll get an in-app prompt to opt in (or out!) of the feature after 9am PT 4. Not all casts will be eligible. The author needs to opt-in. 5. For new casts, auctions last for 24 hours. 6. For historical casts, auctions last for 7 days. 7. You’ll get notifications if your casts receive bids and/or auctions you are participating in have new bids. 8. Remember, the primary goal of the feature is to allow you directly support another person on the network—peer-to-peer, onchain, no algo.
