So much of my world view was shaped growing up inside the DC beltway. I took these at a protest for Leonard Peltier, a member of the American Indian Movement who was accused of killing two FBI agents. The other two people arrested successfully argued self defense but witnesses claimed Peltier executed the officers after they were already defenseless. Two of those witnesses later recanted their statements, saying they were made under duress and many believed he was framed.
It took five decades but Biden granted him clemency and he was finally freed from prison, but he will spend the rest of his life on house arrest.
