My 6 year old daughter asked for a heart shaped henna tattoo. Midway through, she changed her mind and wanted it to be a heart balloon instead. I happily obliged.
As I kept drawing, her shrieks of horror filled the room. She was convinced I was deliberately ruining her absolutely perfect tattoo. I stayed completely silent and kept going.
When she finally opened her eyes, she saw a father and his little girl, both holding onto the same heart balloon. Her puzzled look spoke volumes.
“No matter how far that balloon floats, no matter where life takes us, we’re always connected. My heart goes with you, always. Being your dad is the greatest gift of my life. I love you forever, and I’ll always be there no matter the distance.”
