https://youtu.be/4-TuZ6VdeXY The consequences of housing as a piggy bank the fact we let corporations sit on them empty to keep their "value" says all you need to know about our prioritie$$$ From the video: I've been saying for several years already that supply and demand don't make sense in the contemporary, you know, financialized agenda because once you have a house as part of a collateral or part of an asset of an investment firm or bank, And then the housing has to always keep the value, right? I mean, no bank wants the housing to actually go down in value because of course they cannot lend as much or they go into problems such as the 2008 financial crisis with uh Leman brothers and so forth. So the main agenda that we're talking about when we talk about financialization is the idea that housing purpose, or the purpose of housing which before the '80s used to be to houses, right? To have a roof above us to safeguard us from the elements etc to live a life. It wasn't that the use was no longer or started not being the primary aspect of what housing was. And this is like really a radical shift, right? Like the purpose of housing today, you know, as a consequence of course of all these histories and previous histories is a mainly an investment and when you start seeing housing as an investment, you don't see it as something that people need or that is a or it's a priority the priority for people to be in house and then you start seeing it as something that is just there to make more money
