this is difficult without having channels or dcs in the protocol.
options for client-builders:
1. wait for availability of APIs (either Warpcast or the fc protocol)...what most alt clients are doing.
2. fork the protocol and extend functionality themselves
3. recreate channels + dcs in a ~centralized manner
