a PSA on sound levels π
/campfire is dedicated to sharing knowledge with the music community about the dangers of excessive sound levels and the importance of wearing hearing protection around amplified sound, especially for indoor venues and long-duration events like festivals.
many people are completely unaware of the dangers, or are convinced of such silly things as "my ears are strong, i'll be fine!"
the truth is that your ears don't ever fully recover from hearing damage. it is cumulative, and many of my friends (mostly under 40 years old, even) have noticeable tinnitus and/or hearing damage from not protecting their ears properly. it's tragic, but easily and completely avoidable ππ»
and even if you don't care about the above for some reason (even though you should), music literally sounds better at a reasonable volume because your ears themselves will start distorting sound at higher levels. it's a win-win to keep your volume in check when you can π€
