The painting "Delaware Water Gap" by George Inness American painter and artist who created it with oil on canvas technique around 1861 and is currently kept in the "Metropolitan Museum of Art" in New York. The name of this painting refers to a natural area in eastern Pennsylvania, USA, where the Delaware River flows through the Appalachian Mountains, creating a very beautiful and poetic landscape. In this work, the painter shows a calm and poetic view of nature, green hills, trees in the morning mist and soft light shining through the layers of clouds. At first glance, this view seems real, but upon closer inspection we see that everything is dissolved in the mist and soft colors, as if nature has turned into a dream. This painting is a great example of the Tonalism style, a style pioneered by George Innes, which focuses on color harmony, soft light, and poetic mood rather than meticulous detail.
