Actress Scarlett Johansson said that the head of OpenAI several times asked permission to use her voice to voice the AI. Johansson refused, after which the company introduced an AI with an “eerily similar” voice. In mid-May, OpenAI introduced a new version of generative artificial intelligence GPT-4o. The neural network has learned to sing, change the intonation of the voice and recognize the user’s emotions. The assistant’s voice was reminiscent of Johansson’s character Samantha from the movie “Her,” in which a man falls in love with an AI, notes The Verge. OpenAI CEO Sam Altman also previously hinted at the similarity, publishing a post on X with one word: “She.”
