Base was the leading Ethereum tier 2 network during the Q4 2024 rally, especially in terms of volume. Fast forward a few months to the present, and even after uneven market conditions, it still holds the leading position. The Ethereum ecosystem has maintained healthy activity despite the fact that it's pretty clear that tariff wars have negatively impacted the cryptocurrency market. Much of this activity has taken place on the second tier, and Base continues to be the leading Ethereum second tier network in key areas.
