⚾️Baseball proposal -- curveball to save
In 2014, to combat deflation, there was even a proposal to boost the economy by forming more baseball teams, The reason is that "Prosperous baseball teams could strengthen attachment to regional cities and help local economies thrive" 🍟
🤔 But since most professional teams depend on corporate sponsorship for their survival (losses can be used as a tax-deductible marketing cost for corporate sponsors), the proposition is unlikely to work without a company willing and able to sponsor a new team. Still, baseball's place in the island nation's sports fans and economy is evident. ^ ^
