One pain points with channels right now for us (Cura) is the Follower / Member / Public / Private split.
There should just be one primitive - membership.
Public: join you’re instantly a member.
Private: no join button, just “You need an invite to cast.”
It also makes sense now as:
1. Cura does algorithmic feeds for public channels, solving for spam
2. Farcaster Home feed seems to be unaffected as much by the channel follow graph (i could be wrong here)
This is also how we’ve set up communities on Cura - you join and become a member right away if it’s public; if it’s private, you request to join.
Only technical bottleneck is right now being a member requires curabot to be preinstalled + takes 3 API calls (follow - invite - accept) for what should be a single action.
