Seriously, this is just part of my fear with ipfs when I see it is a paid plan. Like so all metadata gets deleted after some months defaults??

Not exactly. It costs money to run software no matter how you pitch it. Pinning providers pay cloud bills to keep files pinned Running an ipfs node from your computer costs power Blockchain nodes also cost money to run Nothing is truly free. However IPFS gives you the power to decide what is worth to keep pinning. Even if you did default on a pinning provider plan you can pin the files somewhere else, like another provider or your own computer using an app like IPFS desktop. The true trade off is responsibility. People in crypto talk about valuing decentralization until it means they have to participate in keeping it that way, by running software or managing their data. Providers help lift this burden a bit, but the end goal is for everyone to participate in a global decentralized network. Whether that’s social, storage, or blockchain.

Yeah, this true nothing free is actually free to begin with. Just the fear of having all metadata cleared eventually makes it weird. Just exploring Ipfs for something I am building so I am getting to know more about how it functions, pros and cons

Totally understandable! I think if NFTs have a centralized url like RFKT did then it is concerning; you have zero control over whether or not that content will be there tomorrow. At least with IPFS you can actually pin the data yourself. The analogy I use often is a fridge with pictures on it. You might have a picture being held up by one magnet, and if you add a second magnet it’s twice as strong. If you remove the original magnet the picture will still be there because of the second magnet. IPFS works the same way with pinning. If you stored some content with a pinning service you can always grab a list of the CIDs and pin them with another provider or your own IPFS node. The CIDs make the content portable and helps ensure it’s easy to persist data that you value! Always open to questions about IPFS if you have any :)
