I think part of the problem is that on Farcaster (more than other social media platforms) people feel they can be 'context-free anons' with: cartoon pfps, no bio, no outbound links to their prior work...and expect the same level of inbound engagement as 'doxxed' people who bring (at least some of) their {offline, offchain} self to engage with others. On cryptotwitter being an anon (in many cases) was advantageous because the name of the game was ragebaiting and trolling people to get promoted in Twitter's algo, but that's not what's rewarded here. The other problem is that when you don't bring your whole self to FC, you end up only talking about crypto which just leads to incestuous headbanging over memecoins and other zero-sum games that I, and many others, find incredibly boring & uninteresting. There's no hope of going from URL to IRL because they've already put FC in a crypto-only box. All this doesn't mean that you can't be anon on FC, but expect to work harder & stake reputation in other ways.

I agree that bought-status isn't great, but it's only 1 year, and if I'm not convinced with how it goes, I can just not renew. If I get back more value than I paid, then I can pay that value forward via tips. I agree the 10K limit could have been designed to be less botfarmed, but there are ways to make farming -EV going forward.

They switched image hosting providers, I think they used imgur and switched to imagedelivery which is Cloudflare. But if I catch your drift, I agree that IPFS would be nice, I remember it's been discussed in the past...but it would need some caching magic to make it work with low latency. I guess a frame would also work.

The revealed purpose of SFUSD is to serve the unions & special interest groups, not the students. That's been true for years, but I think it gets worse with Trump in the White House because the worst actors in the CA DEM machine use it as air cover to do more grifting, same thing happened during the 1st Trump term. C'est la vie.

It's simple: thanks to the miracle of free market capitalism (crypto) we are able to transact real value & engage in positive sum games rather than traditional social media ragebait where it's pure attention economy with little real value skin-in-the-game.

essentially yes, they have both moats: software (CUDA) & hardware (design). Doesn't mean it's rock solid. Intel at one point had a similar thing: software (x86 ISA) & hardware (manufacturing). They lost both moats to ARM & TSMC.
