The American Revolution wasn’t only a political revolution. It was a monetary one as well. Had 18th-century Britain been able to print, there'd be no America. Because its currency was backed by gold, funding its empire required visible taxes. Hard money makes the imposition of power fully visible, and ultimately unbearable. "Taxation without representation" sparked the colonists' fight. That fight became the United States. Fiat would have let Britain print its way into power quietly - power imposed with a whisper instead of a shout. No shout, no revolution. The irony: the country born from sound money led the world into fiat, and for decades that quiet dilution of wealth and freedom has been inflicted on us. The good news: a generational return to sounder money is gaining steam. And this time we don't have to go to war. We just have to choose it. There's nothing more American than crypto. 🇺🇸 Full essay 👇🏼 https://joincomma.co/media/essays/founding-fathers-bitcoin
