2026 is the year of the fire horse: a time of optimism and opportunity. it is also the year of the infinite machine. things are changing, faster than they ever have. i’ve been programming for more than 10 years, and as of a month ago, i can definitively say there is a machine intelligence more capable than i am. it’s not that expensive either, i’m paying $100/mo for a senior software engineer that can do i anything i would do, 10x faster. it’s humbling, and terrifying. but it’s really exciting as well. love it, hate it, be terrified of it - it’s up to you. but it’s here to stay. ultimately it is human decision making, human attention, and human creativity that drives this infinite machine. so i recommend keeping the faith that there are intelligent, sincerely good people all over the world who work every day to make tomorrow a more prosperous, equitable place to live. and that in the long term, grifting extractors lose to people who think constructively, and live principled, honorable lives. it’s getting crazy out there! things are going to get stranger, and in some ways worse before they get better. but there’s never been a better time to make your mark on the world. good luck, and remember to have fun!
