I’m amazed how many involved in tech have zero clue how the creative industries work and what artists really care about. They want to share their work with the world, build a passionate tribe (as large as possible), and earn a living. Sounds simple but it is not because of 100 years of gatekeepers, and now algorithms, and follower/view minimums. It’s only getting worse with AI slop hitting the market. @barmstrong and @jesse.base.eth should be applauded for the direction of @baseapp.base.eth as the @baseapp.base.eth is now a unique place for creators to raise capital and it’s built on technology that allows payment that is instantaneous at time of sale. This can change so many things that create a fair marketplace. Additionally, the creator economy is $250B a year with a 25% annual growth rate, not to mention the sizes of the music and tv/film industries on top of that. So yeah, I think they’re headed in the right direction.
