I’ve had a couple people asking about follow-up to my reply regarding creator coins. @jesse.base.eth and I had an engaging conversation via DMs. 𝗜 𝘄𝗮𝘀 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗴𝗵𝗼𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗱. I will not be sharing it, but it was thoughtful, respectful, and hashed out a few ideas over the course of 24 hours (on NYE, no less). I 𝘬𝘯𝘰𝘸 that he genuinely cares about both creators and builders. I’d vouch for him. He and @barmstrong are listening. Don’t believe the accusations. They just disagree. Just because someone has a different strategy or decision path than you does not mean that they “aren’t listening”. As a society, we need to be able to disagree again, and this is a simple microcosm of that. I will, however, share a couple of points of clarification from my side: • I don’t believe that every creator is “dumping” in the Pumpdev/trencher sense, but rather that fees are not a sustainable model, which leads creators to selling their coins on top of their fans. In my original post, I could’ve framed this better and apologize for the exaggerated rhetoric that could mislead people. • I’m not against creator tooling or creator coins in general. I’m against the 𝘤𝘶𝘳𝘳𝘦𝘯𝘵 model, because I don’t think it works, but most importantly: I’m against Base king-making any particular model. Put another way: TBA should not be the breakout app on Base. 𝗜 𝘄𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝘀𝗲𝗲 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲 (𝗮𝗹𝗹?) 𝗕𝗮𝘀𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗰𝗲𝘀 𝗯𝗲𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗽𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗻𝗲𝘅𝘁 𝟱, 𝟱𝟬, 𝟱𝟬𝟬 𝗭𝗼𝗿𝗮𝘀 who are great builders experimenting with creator coins, content coins, context coins, appcoins, memecoins, brandcoins, etc. That’s how we win together.
