Nobody asked, but I figured I would discuss this regardless.
I do think that there is room for cross posting, especially for important announcements. For example, I generally will post my latest writing piece on most of my socials. I also am still neglecting Facebook, so I use cross posting from Instagram to make my account look not totally vacant so I can overcome the initial "is this a bot with minimal followers?" issue that every new account has on any platform.
That said, I also think that if you are only regurgitating the same thing to people in seven different locations, they're going to get burnt out on you. Additionally, different platforms have different strengths, so I use them differently. I take the same approach to LLMs, actually.
I always appreciate connecting with people in as many places as possible because I enjoy my internet frens and it makes my timeline better to see people I am actually familiar with instead of random accounts that fill an untrained algo.
Tricil is actually the first person to point this out about DepressiveHacks, but it is done very intentionally and has been the case for years.
