want to make it as an indie builder? here's what worked for me: always have a hedge. your side project isn't going to pay the bills. get a full time job to pay the bills. you'll be more productive when you're not stressed about survival and money in your pocket helps enjoy the finer things in life. then: build every fucking day. wake up early, build. stay up late, build. and in between, contribute meaningfully at your day job. never extract. if you make a commitment then honor it. my first startup, i woke up at 5am, took a bus into the city, worked out of a coffee shop until 9, then went to my day job and often worked into the night. still made time for the gym, friends, relationships, family. eventually, i sold that company to a top-tier exchange in a ~$15m cash + stock deal. for ~98% of the journey, i was the sole engineer, marketer, cheerleader, and founder. also: trade shitcoins or whatever the current thing is. i'm on the internet every single day with an ear to the ground for new opportunities. get in early. some will be winners. don't gamble more than you can lose. there's been ample opportunity to make money in crypto the last 10 years. there will be more. don't adhere to the hive mind. the consensus on social media is not the only way to make it. there are many paths to success, going viral or raising from a16z is not the only way to make it. you can make it in this world without being a niche internet microcelebrity and without being the "hot new startup" that everyone is talking about. just keep building and don't wait for anyone to give you permission.
