The Purr-fect Opcode: OP_CAT’s Hidden Talents
BTC script is not able to ‘see’ the transaction details and validate them against conditions apart from simpler ones.
➡️This property is called introspection, where the script is able to have access to tx details.
A combination of OP_CAT & Schnorr signatures allows a degree of transaction introspection onto the stack: this can be used to construct recursive covenants, vaults, and more.
@TaprootWizards' CatVM uses OP_CAT, Schnorr sigs, and Merkle trees. Unlike other BTC programmability methods, it will rely on OP_CAT opcode adoption via a BTC soft fork to go live.
The result is a MATT-like mechanism but needs just OP_CAT.
