Aalto University researchers now run AI tensor operations in a single light pass.
They encode data directly into light waves, allowing calculations to happen naturally and all at once.
This passive method needs no electronics and may soon be built into photonic chips.
It could lead to far faster and more energy-efficient AI systems.
