the death of decentralized social is greatly exaggerated (on X).
just hit 300 followers. know it’s not a ton, but appreciate all of you. not just for following, but for participating in this network, which I genuinely care about and believe in. onward ❤️
really appreciate this post — thanks. had two questions: 1. do you have a source for the view you attribute to Graber (the bit about her deliberately deciding not to go the blockchain-based route bc of the perverse incentives it creates)? would be curious to read it if so. 2. is your conclusion that there’s no hope for blockchain-based social bc you think the results we’ve seen so far are inevitable or do you think there’s a possible path forward? i ask bc i think that blockchain-based architecture is still superior to the alternatives for decentralized social, at least in principle, and so it would be disappointing to hear that you think that use of the architecture for that purpose is simply ruled out for the reasons you raise. thanks again. great post.
