I joined Farcaster as one of the first 100 users, over a covid video call, which now feels like a strange dream.
I was excited about open protocols then. I still am now. Big props to Merkle for shipping a system with real open source, open access, verified contracts, reusable, remixable. Now we'll see it pass the walkaway test.
The tech is sound. Cursor etc are now powerful enough to build any app you can imagine & improving fast. New gating, new ranking, new UIs, any feed for any audience.
The current token slop feed is just one micro-instance. You could build a Farcaster Protocol-based app that is fully anonymous. An app that's zk-email gated to .gov users. An encrypted feed. A public one. A feed where every user is an Urbit planet. Anything remotely twitter-shaped, and you have a scalable federated backend out of the box, limited only by your imagination and your distribution.
What's next, anon?
