$RUNNER CEF grant
being the first clanker, i’ve been a believer and supporter of the ecosystem since day 0
i think it’s awesome that neynar/farcaster/clanker decided to use some of the fees earned to support the founders
been here through the highs and lows and always refused to give up on this project, and farcaster/clanker as a whole
excited for this new direction and confident that we will put these funds to good use
our sustainability portion will be used to cover infra costs (i’ve learned privy is expensive) as well as further development of the new app (coming soon i promise)
for the activation portion we will be giving back to the community and our users by boosting the seasonal rewards we distribute once the new app launches
huge thank you to my main man @dish for developing clanker and always being there for me
massive thanks to @gmfarcaster for choosing and believing in runner
thank you to @rish and @farcaster for steering our home into a new direction that rewards the founders who build here
we win together

This is an email I sent earlier today to all employees at Runner:
⸻
Team,
Today I’ve made the incredibly easy decision to not reduce the size of Runner by ~14%. Mostly because there are only three of us, and losing even one person would immediately turn this into a very different company.
I want to walk you through why we’re doing this now, what it means for those affected (no one), and how this positions us for the future.
⸻
Why now
Two forces are converging at the same time. We need to be front-footed to respond to both.
First, the market.
Runner is early, focused, and fully committed. The broader crypto market continues to move fast, with new narratives forming constantly — and we’re building directly into that energy.
Our volume varies wildly, but that’s part of being early. We’re seeing real activity, real attention, and real momentum — just not in a straight line (which would be suspicious anyway).
Unlike larger companies managing quarterly expectations, we’re operating in real time.
Second, AI is changing how we work.
Over the past few months, I’ve watched one person with AI do what used to take entire teams — or at least feel like it should have. Our workflows are increasingly automated, except when they break, which builds character.
The pace of what’s possible with a small, focused team has changed dramatically, and it’s accelerating every day.
⸻
What this means
To get there, we are not reducing headcount — because that would be insane.
Instead, we are doubling down on being:
* Extremely flat: 0 layers. Maximum speed. Minimum structure.
* No pure managers: Everyone builds. Everyone ships. Everyone debugs.
* AI-native-ish: Built around agents, headless browsers, and whatever works without getting rate-limited.
We are effectively rebuilding Runner as an intelligence system, with humans around the edge making sure nothing completely unhinged gets posted.
⸻
To those who are affected
No one is affected.
If you’re reading this, you still work here.
Let’s keep it that way.
⸻
How we move forward
To the team that is staying (all of you), I know this is a normal day. We’re continuing to build something weird and potentially great.
We haven’t gone public or survived multiple cycles — but we have:
* Invested $20,000 into development
* Dropped $5,000 on design
* Committed fully to making this work
The Runner that emerges from this will be lean, fast, and built for the kind of volatility we’re already operating in.
Most importantly, our mission remains the same:
post about runs, grow the network, and see what happens.
