Hey @cdixon.eth pg 109 of Read Write Own, you write blockchain networks "provide strong, software-encoded assurances that their prices and access rules won't change." Yet provide no context about ETH and gas prices historically being volatile af! Seems a bit misleading & easily miscomprehended. Implies a mistruth, no?

It's a quibble in an otherwise largely enjoyable read so far. But for a book written for "someone who just wants to understand what is happening" (pg xxvii), it's an oversight not to mislead, imo.

I may be recalling too many dev teams circa '17-18 whose business models failed by the sharp rise of USD-denominated fees to use their smart contracts. Maybe choosing the right L2, rollup or relatively low-fee L1 will allow success today.
