This is what Uruk might have looked like in the 4th millennium BC, and this is what it looks like now.
Uruk is the oldest city-state of the Sumerians and Babylonians in the Southern Mesopotamia. During the heyday of Uruk around 2900 BC. e. its population numbered 50-80 thousand people.
