As someone on the ground trying to take marketshare from incumbents, I can confidently say that L1s have moats:
- Switching costs. Ask any founder of a growing app to switch chains today, and they'd say it would stunt growth for an entire quarter. Redeploying contracts is <5% of the work. Porting over state, moving cards and on-/off-ramps, and juggling the transition on the front-end is easily a 3mo job if they literally didn't plan for a chain switch pre-launch.
- Brand. Be honest about the difference in aura of "we're built on

". Has real consequences for an app's ability to fundraise, hire, and partner.
