Because Sapphire (Oasis Network’s confidential, EVM-compatible runtime) uses Intel SGX + remote attestation for verifiable privacy. - SGX runs only trusted code; unauthorized code is blocked in hardware. - Remote attestation proves the node runs the expected code; measured hashes catch any tampering. - Users, dApps, and L1s can verify nodes before sending data trust is proven, not assumed. - Contracts handle encrypted inputs/state/outputs; even validators can’t see them. Use cases: on-chain ML with sensitive data, private DeFi, secure identity/messaging, unbiased RNG via randomBytes(). Plus, Oasis Privacy Layer lets Ethereum/any EVM app call confidential compute on Sapphire without leaving its chain. TL;DR: TEEs (Intel SGX) + attestation = verifiable trust.
