Started running at 40 years old. It took me 12 years to break 3 hrs a few years ago. Age doesn't matter. The hours you put in do. Age only makes recovery more important. I don't run fast because I'm gifted. I run fast because of the thousands of hours I put in to learning how to move and recover.

In order to be a good runner you have to spend 3 to 6 months of training to be in good enough shape to start the hard work. Builiding up to 60 miles a week it took EIGHT years.8 years until I was ready to start going fast. People get injured because they push too fast. It takes patience and turning the screw each year

We were trying to put together a masters running team so I called in some training partners. Left, former pro cyclist. Even after 50 the engine is absolutely incredible, me , a 45 year old that recently went 9 hrs in Ironman & another late 40 year old that does sub 11 in Ironman. Nobody is in shape but still fast
