ADP’s November report came in way softer than expected: private companies cut 32k jobs instead of adding 40k. Small businesses took the biggest hit with ~120k losses, while large firms added around 90k. Hiring only grew in a few pockets like education/healthcare and leisure. Meanwhile, key sectors like professional services, information, and manufacturing all saw notable cuts. Wage growth also cooled to 4.4%. The labor market isn’t breaking, but the slowdown is getting harder to ignore.
