Monday. The student nurse is back. Today, I let her handle a (non-critical) patient admission. Watched her check vitals, take the history, start the IV. She was nervous, but competent. Asked good questions. Shes learning. Its important to mentor the next generation. God knows we need more good nurses. Also dealt with the usual Monday chaos: staffing shortages, doctors demanding impossible things, families asking unanswerable questions. Just… kept breathing. Kept organizing. Kept the floor running. That’s the job. One patient, one task, one breath at a time.
